Art Seen curated a presentation that examines painting as a site of deconstruction, memory, and material transformation. Bringing together Chris Akordalitis, Clare Burnett, Panayiotis Doukanaris and Amikam Toren the stand explores how contemporary practices expand painting beyond its conventional boundaries.
Doukanaris physically unthreads the canvas, disrupting pictorial conventions, while Toren reconfigures found paintings through linguistic interventions that question authorship and value. Akordalitis approaches painting as emotional terrain, layering memory and lived experience into symbolic landscapes. Extending the dialogue into three dimensions, Burnett constructs sculptural constellations from found materials, interrogating systems of consumption, power, and visibility.
Together, the works offer a critical reflection on painting today, positioning it as both material object and conceptual narrative in dynamic dialogue with sculpture.
